Joann Sowers, age 72, of McArthur, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio. She was born in Vinton County, Ohio on October 31, 1941 to the late James and Mary Ellen Kirby. Besides her parents, Joann was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon “Doe” Sowers; a daughter, Stephanie Morgan; a sister, Betty; a brother, Tom Kirby, and a grandson, Joshua Eldon Sowers.
She is survived by her daughters: Regina Kipp of Beaver, Valerie Reffett of Wellston, Lynelle Goheen of Wellston, and Kendra Sowers of McArthur; brothers: Dave, Bobby and Mike Kirby, a sister, Patty Oberholzer; 14 grand children, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Joann enjoyed raising her grandbabies.
Funeral services will be held graveside at Bell Cemetery in Allensville, Vinton County, Ohio, on Wednesday, June 18, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Roger Morgan officiating.
Services are under the direction of the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home, 135 Broadway Street, Jackson, Ohio.
