Lavada Marie Luster

Lavada Marie Luster, 67, of Hamden, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on on Wednesday afternoon, June 11, 2014 at her home.

She was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on July 23,1946, the daughter of the late Robert Gearing and Elizabeth Jarrell Gearing. She was a homemaker and enjoyed oil painting and writing short stories. She loved her family and anyone who knew her loved her. She was known by many as “mamaw.” When the grandchildren were asked, “Who told you you could do that?” they said, “Mamaw said.” 

Besides her parents,she was preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Fooce in November 2009 and Bessie Baer in May 2011.

Surviving is her loving husband of 49 years, Bert Luster Jr. Together they loved and raised four children, Diane (Paul) Cecil Jr., Sandy (David) Beyer Jr., Randy (Yvonne) Luster, and Matt Hatfield; four cherished grandchildren, Marie Cecil, Ben Cecil, Cassie Beyer, and Kelsey Beyer; two precious great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Rose Cecil. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends may call at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Saturday from 4 until 8 p.m. Services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Jenkins Chapel with Pastor Rudolph Spaulding officiating. Lavada’s final resting place will be in the Hamden Cemetery.
