Carrie “Marie” Rice, age 87, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2014 at Best Care Nursing Home in Wheelersburg, Ohio. She was born in Wellston, Ohio to the late Claude and Carrie (Jordan) Angles. She was also preceded in death by eight brothers: Denver, Ferrell, Ed, Wes, Ellis, Bernard, Lowell and Claudie Angles; and one sister, Mildred Angles Cadd.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert F. Rice of Wheelersburg, formerly of Jackson, Ohio; son, Robert J. (Patricia) Rice of Wheelersburg; daughters, Roberta Kay (John) Rice Bannen of New Castle, Pa. and Cathy Rice of Columbia, Tenn.; brother, Wayne Angles of Wheelersburg Ohio; seven grandchildren: Michael Rice of West Portsmouth, Jennifer (Joel) Stidham of Worthington, Ky., Courtney (Cecil) Riggs of Ironton, Ohio, Robert (Sylvia) Petro of New Castle, Pa., Justin Deborah) Petro of New Castle, Pa., Patrick Bailey and Bryan Bailey of Franklin, Tennessee; six great-grandchildren: Michael Thomas Rice, Samantha (Daniel) Baldwin, Allison Stidham, Jenna Stidham, Elayna Riggs, and Grace Audrey Bailey; and many nieces, nephews and step grandchildren.
Marie loved visiting with her family and her friends from the Jackson Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was baptized in January of 1964. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden.
Friends may call at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home Saturday, April 12, from 12 to 2 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following at 2 p.m. and Brother Mac Meece officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jackson, Ohio.
