Susan Marie Mapes, age 44, of Jackson, passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 17, 2014, at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. She was born August 6, 1969 in Gallipolis, Ohio to Frankie Allen Mapes and Toby Ann Brubaker Mapes.
Susan was a 1988 graduate of Jackson High School. She was a kind, caring and beautiful person, both inside and out, who enjoyed walking, reading, spending time with her family and friends and helping out her daddy. Susan attended both Hillside Chapel Church and Christ United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her parents, Frank and Toby Mapes of Jackson; son, Jeffrey Allen “Jake” Starnes of Lawton, Oklahoma; brothers, Robert Allen “Bobby” Mapes of Jackson and Glendan James “Jimmy” Mapes of Jackson; nephews, Robert Mapes and Frankie Mapes, both of Jackson, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her infant sister, Barbara Ann Mapes.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Roach officiating.
