Thelma Webb Eanes

Thelma Webb Eanes, age 88, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at the Four Winds Community in Jackson. She was born October 2, 1925 in Ranger, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Shelby E. Webb and Berlie Baisden Webb.

Thelma was a Licensed Practical Nurse, who was licensed in the states of Ohio, Arizona, California, and Florida. She was a former employee of all the area nursing facilities, including Four Winds, and she also worked as a private duty nurse. Thelma received an accommodation from the United States Navy for her perfectionism as a machinist, manufacturing components for war ships during WW II. She was a charter member and very instrumental in the formation of the Melungeon Heritage Association, from whom she received a medal of excellence award. Thelma formerly attended the Byer Christian Church.

She is survived by her four children, Sandra Coll of Ocala, Florida, Glenn “Bub” Webb (Sharon) of Wellston, Virginia Richards (Donnie) of Ray and Ruth Webb-Duffy (Randy) of Wellston; sister, Donna Ruth Sowers (Otis) of Pattonsville; brother, Archie Webb of Denver, Colorado; four grandchildren, Jeff Wilbur, Glena Will, Melissa Brenner and Jacob Webb, as well as seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her siblings, infant Shelby Webb, Annabelle Sowards, Hazel Scott, Gerald Webb, Donald Eugene Webb and Carol Baker.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with John Pelletier, CLP, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pattonsville Cemetery.
