Nannie Newsom, age 92, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at the Four Winds Nursing Facility in Jackson. She was born April 4, 1921 in Wise County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Samuel P. Cantrell and Ada Stallard Cantrell. Nannie was a loving homemaker and a former employee of R.J. Reynolds. She attended the Old Regular Baptist Church.
Nannie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Lee and Eunice Newsom of Lusby, Maryland; four grandchildren, Cathleen Ann Quinn of Keller, Texas, Donald Edward Newsom of Lusby, Maryland, Shawn Patrick Newsom of Maryland/Ohio and McGarren Lee Newsom of Lusby, Maryland; one sister, Ida Mullins of Pound, Virginia, as well as three great-granddaughters, one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Newsom in 1994; brothers, Edward Cantrell and Conley Cantrell and her sister, Euna Justice.
Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with church services following at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held Sunday in Pound, Va. with burial in the Mullins Family Cemetery.
