Arnold E. Crabtree, age 87, of Oak Hill, Ohio, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, November 14, 2013. Arnold was born August 6, 1926 in Oak Hill, Ohio. A faithful servant of God, he loved going to church. He read the Bible through, nine times. He was a kind heart who never met a stranger. Arnold worked for 30 years at the Jackson County Highway Department.
Arnold is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Ressie; daughters, Jewell (Bill) Poling, Pam (Jeff) Brown of Lancaster, Ohio; son, Randy (Karen) Crabtree of Thurman, Ohio; 11 wonderful grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Alvin Crabtree, Hayden Crabtree, Herman Crabtree, and Darrel Crabtree; sisters, Rowena Barnhart and Shelba Harless; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was a daughter, Connie Crabtree; sons, Eddy Crabtree and Meredith Crabtree; parents, Clarence and Daisy (McCain) Crabtree; sister, Mary Gordon; brothers, Edgar Crabtree, Billy Crabtree, and Warren Crabtree.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill, Ohio. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m., immediately after viewing with Pastor Bryon Carmon officiating. Burial will follow at Monroe Cemetery in Oak Hill, Ohio.
