Martin “Marty” Edwards

Martin Duane “Marty” Edwards, age 50, of Wellston, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at the Holzer Medical Center ER in Jackson. He was born March 30, 1963 in Oak Hill, Ohio to Gayle Duane Edwards and Janet Williams Edwards.

Marty was a 1981 graduate of Wellston High School and was the meat manager at the SuperValu Store in McArthur for 24 years. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Coalton and he was an avid dirt track racing fan.

Marty is survived by his mother, Janet Edwards of Jackson; his wife of 19 years, Robin Leach Edwards; son, Martin Duane “M.J.” Edwards of Jackson; brother, Mark (Gina) Edwards of Wellston; sister, Tammy Edwards Johnson of Jackson; father-in-law, Sam Leach of Wellston; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Leach of Jackson and Marsha (Rick) Walters of Woodland, Ohio; his loving dogs and best friends, Bella, Gertie and Longneck; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gayle Edwards; his grandparents, Griff and Winifred Edwards and Clarence and Elizabeth Williams; and his mother-in-law, Sandy Leach.

In keeping with Marty’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Coalton Cemetery with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Family and friends may gather on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston for the procession to the cemetery.
