Larry Adair, age 65, a long-time resident of Jackson, passed away on Friday October 11. He is survived by his wife, Sandy Richards at 249 Cross Street; brother, Jim of Plainsboro, NJ; pets, Tucker, Luke, Kiki and Tweety Pie. He was preceded by his mother, Garnet and father, Ernest P. Adair.
Larry was employed by Hunt Wesson Foods, Davis, CA for 25 years. During that time his talents pioneered Hunts Manwich and Tomato Paste lines while perfecting his love of guitar music and painting. He met Sandy there before moving back to Jackson. Sandy and he became the town paper carriers for both papers.
Larry was an avid gardener and had an awesome sense of artistic vision and love of the arts with his many paintings and pencil drawings and sketches. He also played the 12-string guitar with many musicians in California and in Jackson areas.
Larry loved this community and on many, many occasions recited stories long forgotten by local residents about growing up here in the 50s and 60s.
A memorial tribute to Larry, his life and his works will be held next spring at the Markay Cultural Arts Center, where he would often be seen studying with the children and local artists.
Any donations should be sent to the Markay Cultural Arts Center, Jackson. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home.
