William (Bill) Douglas Landrum, Sr.

William (Bill) Douglas Landrum, Sr., 71, of Jackson, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2013 in his home surrounded by the comfort of loved ones.

He was born on June 14, 1942 in Jackson to the late Walter Scott Landrum Sr., and Nellie Leora (Foster) Landrum. On April 12, 1964 he married his surviving wife, Carol (Folden) Landrum. They were married nearly 50 years.

Living his whole life in Jackson and graduating from Jackson High School in 1961, Bill spent much of his time working in Columbus at Decker Construction from where he retired in 1999. He was a lifetime member of the Laborer’s Local 18. Besides being a hard worker, he was quite the family man. He also enjoyed playing guitar with his siblings and for his grandchildren. He could usually be found on his front porch sitting and talking to people. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Bill is survived by his wife, Carol (Folden) Landrum; his two children: Lisa (Mark) Garvey and William D. Landrum, Jr.; Grandchildren: Kayla M. Crabtree, Justin R. Landrum, Josie K. Garvey, LaDoska S. Garvey, Jerico W. Garvey,and Trevon M. Landrum; Great-Grandchildren: Jashaelyn K.Curtis and Rowan D. Bowling; and many nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are, four sisters: Charleen J. Haynes, Hazel E. (Lewis) Collins, Mary E. Reed, all from Jackson, and Clara Mae Reed of Oak Hill; two brothers: Isaac H. (Carol) Landrum and Floyd M. (Joine) Landrum and sister-in-law Mary Landrum, all of Jackson. In addition to his parents Bill was preceeded in death by five sisters: Frances Ann Landrum (infant), Frieda M. Lambert, Juanita F. Bolen, Bernice V. Sturgill, and Kathleen Foster; and four brothers: Ivan L. Landrum, Paul I. Landrum, John F. Landrum, and Junior Landrum.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson. Friends and family may call on Monday, August 19, 2013 from 4-8pm.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 1pm with burial to follow in Landrum Cemetery in Jackson, Ohio.
