Donald Matthew “Matt” Simpkins

Donald Matthew “Matt” Simpkins, 30, of Coalton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 2, 2013.

He was born in Gallipolis, Ohio, on July 31, 1983 , son of Donald A. Simpkins of Columbus, Ohio, and the late Carol Gillman Ross. Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Jerry “Bub” Workman, and his grandparents. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. He was self-employed and liked to work on cars, electronics, and small equipment. He was always willing to give a friend a helping hand and asked for nothing in return.

Besides his father, he is survived by his close step-father, Roy Ross of Hamden, Ohio; a brother, Tony Chapman of Tennessee; two sisters, Tammy Chapman of Tennessee and Catrina (Kenny) Storms of Coalton; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles; and his best friend, Keith Jones of Coalton.

Friends may call at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Monday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1 p.m. Pastor Kenneth Storms Sr. will officiate the services and burial in the Evergreen Cemetery.

The family has requested that donations in “Matt’s” name can be made to the Jenkins Funeral Chapel, P.O.Box 45 , Wellston, Ohio, 45692, to assist with funeral expenses.
