Martin J. Scurlock

Martin J. Scurlock, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Holzer Medical Center in Jackson.

He was born on November 10, 1924 to the late George and Lena (Cartwright) Scurlock. He is also preceded in death by wife, Kathleen Scurlock; son, David Lee Scurlock; brothers, Clifford and Virgil Scurlock; sisters, Garnet Buck, Agnes Radcliff, Daisy Graham, Rozella Jones and a half-sister, Cora McWhorter.

He is survived by sons, Allen (Teresa) Scurlock and Ron (Debbie) Scurlock; grandchildren, Tracy (Tony) Northup, Joe (Carol) Scurlock, Mike (Heather) Coy, Lisa Coy; and nine great-grandchildren.

Martin retired from DT&I Railroad of Jackson after 30 years of service. He was also a WWII veteran. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 7, at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson with Pastor Kay Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Real Friends Cemetery with a military graveside service, compliments of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 45. Friends may call between the hours of 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, at the funeral home.
