Ivan L. Stephenson

Ivan L. Stephenson, age 79, of Wellston, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at the Four Winds Community. He was born August 7, 1933 in Glen Roy, Ohio, the son of the late Emmit O. Stephenson and Jessie Tipton Stephenson.

Ivan was a 1951 graduate of Coalton High School and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired after 50 years of service as an iron worker with Local #172 out of Columbus, Ohio. Ivan attended the Hope United Methodist Church and was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Vincell Stephenson; son, Roger L. Stephenson (Vickie) of Wellston; daughter, Kathy Taylor (Ron) of Canfield; grandsons, Joshua Stephenson (Erin) of Wellston, Ryan Taylor of Canfield and Jared Taylor of Canfield; sister, Maxine Plummer of Wellston; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roy J. and Karleene Gilliland of Wellston and Lawrence and Mary Mullen of Chillicothe; as well as two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including lifelong friend and golf buddy, Bud Parker of Jackson.

Besides his parents, Ivan was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Einon Plummer.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Vinson officiating.
