John P. Canter, age 78, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born February 19, 1934 in Jackson, to the late William C. and Leona (Woods) Canter. He was a member of the operating engineers, a member of the Masonic Portland Lodge 366.
He is survived by son, John (Carolyn) Canter, of South Bloomfield; grandchildren, Jennifer Wilson, of Londonderry, Jeff Canter, of Circleville, Michelle Canter, of South Bloomfield, David Caldwell and J.R. Caldwell; great grandchildren, Kayla, Kylie, Kimberly, Olivia, Lauren, Aiden, Tori, Cortney, Jacob and Skyler; brothers, William B. Canter, of Sandusky, ; two sisters, Katherine French, of Jackson, and Virginia Hughes, of Oak Hill
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Fern Canter; daughter, Patricia “Mitzi” Caldwell; two sisters, Viola Bowens and Martha Canter and one brother, Tom Canter.
Funeral services will be held 1 pm Monday, November 5, 2012 at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Howard officiating. Burial will follow in C.M. Cemetery.
