Paul J. Scarrett

Paul J. Scarrett, age 77, of Lima, and a former resident of Hamden, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at the St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. He was born August 14, 1935 in Wellston, Ohio, the son of the late William Delbert Scarrett and Sylvia Mae Vititoe Scarrett.

Paul was a veteran of the United States Marines, having served during the Korean War. He was retired from the Ford Motor Company and was a former member of the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston, the V.F.W. Post 9092 of Wellston and the Eagles in Lima.

He is survived by eight children, Ruth Ann Scarrett of Wellston, Gary Lee Scarrett (Robin) of Hamden, Michael R. Scarrett (Tina) of Wellston, Penny C. Scarrett of Lima, Sylvia Christine Sargent (Joe) of Columbus Grove, Tina Marie Scarrett of Lima, Paula Regina Neel (Jerry) of Indiana and Cindy Lou Warren (Tobby) of North Carolina; three sisters, Mary Richards (Robert) of Lima, Helen Perry of Wellston and Violet Davis (Danny) of Lima; close friend, Shirley Elkins of Lima, as well as 21 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Paul was preceded in death by brother, Charles Thomas McNeely and two sisters, Rosie Jonas and Wilma McNeely.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 12 to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.
