Ellen Carper

Ellen Carper, 84, of Byer, died Wednesday, June 20 at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville. She was born November 19, 1927, in Weeksbury, Kentucky, to the late Leonard and Sarah Elsie Johnson Trenner.

Ellen was a 1946 graduate of East High School in Columbus.

She worked as a seamstress for 20 years at the former Hercules (later the Kuppenheimer Co.) Pants Factory. She retired in 1993 from the V.A. Medical Center-Chillicothe where she was employed in building maintenance. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Samantha Johnson, daughter, Sara Lee Holder, and son-in-law, Bill Sorrell in 2011.

Ellen is survived by two daughters, Diana Trace and Sue Sorrell, both of Wellston, as well as nine grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

Arrangements are by the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston. Viewing hours will be Sunday, June 24, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. with graveside services at 2:15 p.m. at the Ray Cemetery. Pastor Steve Mathews will be officiating.
