Wilma “Jean” (Lawson) Jones passed away peacefully on June 1st, 2022, at the age of 97, surrounded by her loving family. She was born and raised in Ironton, Ohio to the late Maude and Preston Lawson.
She was the beloved wife of John S. “Jack” Jones, who preceded her in death in 1999. She and Jack were long-time residents of Oak Hill, Ohio, where they were faithful members of the Oak Hill Presbyterian Church. Jean had a long career with the Oak Hill Savings & Trust Bank. She was especially loved by many in her community for her loving, giving nature and her willingness to always give a lending hand.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Vivian Morford of Chesapeake, Ohio. She was a loving grandmother to Shannan Layne (Tito) Felix and great-grandmother to Jonnaton “Cruz,” Gary, Mariah, and Landon. She is also survived by her nephew, Rennie (Sarah) Thompson of Phillips, Wisconsin and his daughters: Michal and Malissa; as well as her special nephew and caretaker, Bruce David (Beth) Thompson of Lavalette, West Virginia and his daughters: Carie and Chana. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Georgianna (Dow) Thompson; her brother, James “Jimmy” (Connie) Lawson; her son, John, Jr.; and daughter, Bobbi Jean Justice.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 4th, 2022, at 11 a.m. at C.M. Cemetery in Oak Hill, Ohio, where she will be laid to rest by her beloved husband, Jack.
