Janice G. (Tolliver) Potter, age 87, of Oak Hill, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022, in her home, surrounded by family. She was born July 6, 1934, in Jackhorn Kentucky, to the late Ervin and Jane (Wright) Tolliver.
Janice married the love of her life, George Owen Potter, on November 18, 1950, and together they enjoyed 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2013. Born to this union were seven children.
A member of the Pyro Church of Christ, her greatest joy in life was being a faithful servant of the Lord. Janice was a devoted homemaker who loved to cook and take care of her growing family. She always made sure that no one left hungry when they came to visit. Janice thoroughly enjoyed gardening, sewing and working her puzzle books. Most of all, her family was her greatest treasure.
Janice is survived by her five children: Allen (Connie) Potter, Clyde (Ruthie) Potter, Diana (Jim) Sims, Greg (Carla) Potter, all of Oak Hill; Rhonda (Danny) Butler of Jackson; daughter-in-law, Carol (Canter) Potter of Oak Hill; sister, Joyce Potter of Oak Hill; and sister-in-law Sue Tolliver of Jackson. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Janice is preceded in death by son, Ivan Potter; daughter, Loretta Carol Potter; grandson, Ryan Potter; brother, James Tolliver; infant sister, Phyllis Ann Tolliver; brother-in- law Irvin Potter, Jimmy Potter, and Clyde Potter; sisters-in-law: Mattie Wyatt, Martha Potter, and Emma (Potter) Miller.
The family would like to thank Shelia Miller and Samantha Brooks for being wonderful caretakers to their mother. We will forever be grateful for their unwavering care, support, and love. We would also like to thank Heartland Hospice for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Growing Oaks Program. Janice never wanted a child to go hungry.
