Douglas Ferrell Crabtree was born Jan 3, 1946, in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Rev. Edgar and Opal (Crace) Crabtree. He conquered many battles during his life here on earth. His passion for his family helped him to fight through them all, finally receiving the gift of eternal life that he knew God had promised him on February 15, 2022.
Those he left behind for now are his children: Douglas A. Crabtree and Kimberly R. (Anthony) Lester; his beloved grandchildren: Tustin Crabtree, Kasen Crabtree, Aaron Lester, Alexandria Lester, Brandon (Tamar) Lester, Audriana Lester and Kameron Crandell; recent bride and “sweetie,” Sandy Womeldorf; stepchildren: Renee (Rob) Womeldorf-Timms, Jill (Patrick) Womeldorf-Watters and Johnathon (Kaylyn) Womeldorf; his siblings: Dennis (Penny) Crabtree, Rebecca (Ted) Iaquinta, Rev. Fred (Debbie) Crabtree, Sally (Mark) Brumfield, Lana Crabtree and Aaron (Denise) Crabtree; and a multitude of extended family members. Waiting for him to arrive in Heaven, in addition to his parents, is his grandson, Trisen Douglas Crabtree.
Doug graduated from Oak Hill High School and later joined the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served his country. He had many talents, interests and hobbies. First and foremost, he would want to share his love for Jesus and the promise of life after this with anyone and everyone that met him. Like his mother, he never failed in telling everyone about his Lord and Savior. Doug was an ordained minister. He was a member of the Ancient and Accepted Freemasons Lodge #308 of Meridian, Mississippi. He loved his bluegrass music and could make a broken fiddle new again. He led a life full of passion for hunting and for the outdoors. He was a former President and Life Member of The Ohio Bowhunters Association. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Doug’s wishes were to be cremated. Friends and family may call on Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The Old Country Church Tabernacle in Oak Hill, Ohio. A celebration of life will immediately follow calling hours at 12 p.m. at the same location.
