Richard Hughes

Richard E. Hughes, age 70, currently from Wilkesville, Ohio, formerly of Oak Hill, Ohio passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021, at 5:30 a.m. at Ohio State University James Cancer Center Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born October 31, 1951, in Oak Hill to the late William Hughes, Sr. and Helen (Vititoe) Hughes. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Frances (McCain) Hughes; brother, William Hughes Jr., and niece, Sharron (Hughes) Beatty. He is survived by his son, Richard Hughes Jr.; Pam (Bill) Bowles; grandchildren: Jessica and BJ Bowles; sister-in-law, Sue Hughes; brothers-in-law: Kenny and Jack Wallace; niece, Patricia Evans; nephew, Scott (Jennifer) Hughes; and great niece, Katie (Josh) McElory. 

Richard grew up in Blackfork. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a man of few words, but everyone knew he loved his kids, grandkids and his dog, Rascal. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. He is now with his wife, mother, father, brother and niece, having a ball. 

Friends may call Monday, December 20, 2021, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Stan Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Horeb Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
