Sally Faye Close, age 84, of Ray, Ohio, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021, at her home. She was born June 12, 1937, in Magoffin County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Woodrow Hale and Perlia Shepherd Hale. Sally Faye was a former employee of Kuppenheimer Manufacturing Company, and then later retired from Kenworth, where she was employed for 25 years. Sally Faye enjoyed farming, working outdoors in her flower gardens and attending Tick Ridge Church.
She is survived by her children: Helen McIntosh (Ken), Mary Betts (Lonnie), Patricia Yates (Aric), Rita Lantz (Jim) and Chester “Buddy” Close (Candy); siblings: Elisa Hutchison, Eldrid Hale, Sandy Jenkins, Nora Dixon, Wilbur Hale, Cynthia Jenkins and Judy Doles; along with 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Sally Faye was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Stevens; second husband, Orrie Close; and her brother, Johnny Hale.
Calling hours will be Thursday, November 11, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Friday, November 12, at 11 a.m. at the Tick Ridge Church with Pastors Butch Cooper and Ronnie Warrens officiating. Burial will follow in the Byer Cemetery.
