Janie Walters Jonas, age 63, of Wellston, passed away Friday, November 26, 2021, at her home. She was born December 24, 1957, in Jackson, Ohio, daughter of the late James S. Walters and Beulah Amburgey Walters. Following 30 years of employment, she retired from Waterloo Coal Company, where she was the personnel and office manager. Janie never met a stranger and was one of the sweetest and kindest persons who always made others feel welcome. She enjoyed making crafts, playing Yahtzee, baking and was considered to be the cook of the family. Janie loved decorating for all of the holidays throughout the year, but Christmas was the most special.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, David L. Jonas, Sr.; children: Jason Walters Lewis; daughter, Jessica Dawn Colson; adopted daughter, Carly Buxton (Richard); grandchildren: Emilee Lewis, Carter Lewis and Natalia Jean Buxton; siblings: Teresa Holbrook, Jim Walters (Terry), Debbie Stapleton (Roger), Mary Milliken and Lisa Spangler (Steve); along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides her parents, Janie was preceded in death by her sister, Sandy Napper; and nephew, Austin Milliken.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. with Billy Morris officiating. Burial will be in the Coalton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
