Margaret J. “Margie” Ramsey, age 97, of Columbus, and a former resident of Wellston, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Kobacker House in Columbus.
She was born December 16, 1923 in Wellston, Ohio, daughter of the late William Gould James and Edith I. Patton James. Margie graduated from Wellston High School in 1941. She retired from Kuppenheimer Manufacturing, also known as The Pants Factory, in Wellston, where she was the front-office secretary for several years. Margie was a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Wellston, where in past years she was church treasurer and very active with the United Methodist Women’s group and the church choir. In her younger days, Margie was a champion golfer at Fairgreens Country Club, and she always enjoyed working out in her yard and spending the weekends with her sisters and niece, who over the years were all avid Ohio State Buckeye fans.
Margie is survived by her niece and her husband, Jayne Lyn and Craig Canaday, their son, Bryan Canaday, all of Grove City; and Martha Yutzy-Horn, who was Margie’s loving caregiver for the last 6½ years.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, George F. Ramsey, in 2008; sisters and a brother-in-law, Carolyn James and Ruth Ann and Jim Peitzke; and cousin, Joanne Lausch.
The graveside service will be Sunday, April 25, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Ridgewood Cemetery in Wellston with Pastor John Pelletier officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the Hope United Methodist Church Choir, 219 East First Street, Wellston, Ohio 45692.
