Matthew Wade Detty, age 39, of Oak Hill, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021 at Holzer Medical Center of Gallipolis. He was born Nov. 24, 1981 to Robbie and Rita Detty.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by daughter, Matison Detty of Jackson, Ohio; brother, Brian (Lisa) Detty of Oak Hill, Ohio; niece, Nicole (Corey) Hutton of Gallipolis, Ohio; nephew, Chase Detty of Oak Hill, Ohio; great-nieces, Kynlee and Clara Detty of Oak Hill, Ohio; grandmothers, Phyllis Cramer of Hebron, Ohio and Jean Dempsey of Oak Hill, Ohio; significant friend, Bridget Risner; and he also leaves behind many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Dale Dempsey; paternal grandfather, Paul Cramer; paternal grandfather, Perk McCain; and best friend, Josh Nelson.
Matthew was a Union Iron Worker of Local 769 of Ashland, Kentucky. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Horeb Cemetery. Per CDC and governor guidelines, everyone is required to wear a mask and practice proper social distancing.
