Marvin R. Seymour, age 73, of Hamden, passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 29, 2017 at his home. He was born March 21, 1943 in Wellston, Ohio, son of the late James R. Seymour and Gladys V. Young Seymour.
Marvin was a 1961 graduate of Wellston High School. He retired as a supervisor from General Mills, where he was employed for 22 years. Marvin was a current Councilman for the Village of Hamden and a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church in Hamden and the Orphans Friends Lodge #275 F&AM in Wilkesville. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and drag racing, and was an enthusiastic fan of the Pittsburg Steelers and Cleveland Indians.
Marvin had a good heart and actively supported various charities. He was a loving family man who cherished time with his family.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sue Grimmett Seymour; daughters, Donna Marie Seymour of Hamden and Denise Rae Seymour of Hamden; grandchildren, Marie Champion (Brian), Michael Cantrell, Melinda Cantrell-Matteson, Marvin Seymour II and Megan Teeters; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Gabby, Jasper, Ali and Milly Champion and Aubrey Seymour and Aiden Holsinger; siblings, Janice Dotson of Taylor, Michigan, Roger Seymour of McArthur, Donna McKenzie of Wellston and Gary Seymour of Wellston; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including special friends, Gary Miller and Harry Scudder.
Besides his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Seymour; great-grandson, Jared Blake Champion; brothers, Ralph Seymour, Calvin Seymour and Kenny Seymour; and brothers-in-law, Steve McKenzie and Gary Dotson.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston, where a Masonic service will conclude the calling hours at 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Jones and Pastor Lamar O’Bryant officiating.
