Clifford Stevens, age 82, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016 unexpectedly at his home. He was born April 23, 1934 in Boyd County, Kentucky to the late Lewis R. and Anna Elizabeth Childers Stevens.
Cliff was known to many friends and coworkers as “Shotgun,” and never met a stranger. He loved raising a garden and farming. He enjoyed many social events, he never missed an Apple Festival, Beaver October Fest, horse races at the fair, a local bean dinner or fish fry.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, attended the Promise Land Church and was a member of: Laborer International Union Local 83, Sons of the AM VETS, Limerick Grange and a Master Mason, and a 42-year member of the Masonic Trowel Lodge 0132 F&AM.
He is survived by his daughter: Elizabeth “Liz” (John) Frisby; grandson: Austin Frisby; daughter-in-law: Dora Pratt; granddaughter: Terri Russell Holcomb; great-grandchildren: Logan and Kennedy Holcomb and a host of nieces, nephews and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Doris Spriggs Stevens; sons: Marlin Russell and Mark Russell; brother and sisters: Clarence “Bus” Stevens, Mary Starkey, Mildred Meredith, and Madalyn Dameron.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Parks officiating and burial to follow in the Bethel Ridge Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2016 at the funeral home with Masonic services at 8 p.m. by the Trowel Lodge 0132 F&AM.
