Betty J. Harshbarger, age 85, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Edgewood Manor of Wellston. Betty was born June 27, 1931 in Glenville, West Virginia to the late Walter Lonnie and Vernia Catherine Ables.
She is survived by her daughter, Lititia Buckles of Jackson, Ohio; two grandchildren: Darlene (Smith) Fisher and Darrell C. Smith; five great-grandchildren: Felicia (Smith) Runyon, Jeffrey Adkins, Clayton Smith, Cody Bailey, and Hannah Lambert; three great-great-grandchildren: Adalynn Lombardo, Hendrix Runyon, and Bentley Lambert; five sisters: Betty J. Harshbarger of Jackson, Ohio, Daisey Ratcliff of West Virginia, Frankie Suknaich of LaGrange, Ohio, Margret Cutright of Elyria, Ohio, and Kathy Mathew of West Virginia; brother, Bernerd Ables of LaGrange, Ohio; and ex-husband, Bill Harshbarger.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings: Ray Ables, Shay Ables, and Orville Ables.
Betty loved gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Wendell Vermillion officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
