Ethel Mae Silvey, age 95, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away peacefully in the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio after a short illness. She was born December 8, 1920 to the late Andrew Jackson and Eliza (Johnson) Potter, the second of eight daughters. The family also consisted of one son who died in infancy.
Ethel is survived by her two sons: Alvin (LeVay) Silvey of Manhattan, Montana and Timothy (Rita) Silvey of Jackson, Ohio; three grandchildren: Thomas (Laura) Silvey of Idaho, Amanda (Rob) Grimwood of Indiana, and Emily (Jeff) Lilly of Florida; two step-grandsons: Dakota Silvey of South Korea and Parker Dougherty of Utah; five great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Mervin W. Silvey; sisters: Evelyn Compton, Jack Davis, Charlotte Thomas, Flaudeen Dickerson, and Linda Hartley.
She was a long-time faithful member of Good Shepherd Wesleyan Church of Jackson. She enjoyed working puzzles, crocheting, quilting, playing Scrabble, Friday night card group, visiting with friends, and being a prayer warrior.
Friends may call on Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Christman officiating. Burial will follow at C.M. Cemetery.
