Pauline F. Hill, 85, of Wellston, Ohio, went home with her Lord on Friday morning, May 27, 2016, at Holzer Medical Center-Gallipolis following failing health. she was born in Redbush, Kentucky, January 5, 1931, to the late Ernest and Thelma Hayes Wright. She graduated high school and later met and married her husband of 46 years, the late Eldon “Gene” Hill, who passed away in 1999.
She was a homemaker who raised a large family while finding time to enjoy sewing, cooking, and her flowers. She was famous for her homemade cookies and always made sure those in need were taken care of and fed a good meal. She loved to attend the Wilkesville bean dinners and listen to the bluegrass music.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Ramona Hill; her grandson, Jerry Dean Hill; her brother, James Howard Wright; and her sister, Louise O’Brien.
She is survived by four sons and three daughters: Phillip (Suki) Hill of the state of Washington, Bernie Hill, Gary Hill, and Dale (Kathy) Hill, all of Wellston, Grace (Greg) Johnson of Hamden, Coralee (Guy) Gee of Pattonsville, and Karen Sue Hill of Oak Hill. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service at Salem Cemetery followed the visitation with Pastor Jorge Anido singing, speaking about Pauline, and reading scripture. The services concluded with a balloon release in Pauline’s memory by 11 of the younger family members.
