Steve E. Stevenson

Dr. Steve E. Stevenson, (74), passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015. Steve was born July 12, 1941 to the late Annita (Arthur) and Charles B. Stevenson in Jackson, Ohio. On December 19, 1965 he married the love of his life, Agnes Mahle, who survives.

Steve loved the Lord and served him well. He was a member of the Jackson Christ United Methodist Church and the Wesley United Methodist Church at Fredrica in St. Simon’s Island Georgia. He was a member of the men’s prayer group and choir and a member of the Masonic Trowel Lodge 132 F&AM. Over the years he had been involved in many organizations including the Jackson Rotary Club, Kairos Prison Ministry, Carvers Club, Boy Scouts and the Cranberry Juicers. Steve was the first Eagle Scout of Troop #48.

Steve was a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and had his own practice in Jackson for over 35 years. He served on the Jackson City School Board for 25 years; including many years as President. He was also a member of the Jackson Fire Department, including their water rescue team, for 25 years.

Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife, Aggie; sons, Sherman (Sally) and Jeff (Lori); his cherished grandsons, Taylor and Griffin; siblings Sam (Kathie) Stevenson, Mark (Linda) Stevenson and Kathy (Bill) Sheward. In addition, a host of brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Annita and Charles Stevenson; sister, Kristine Conger and brother, Art Stevenson.

Friends will be received at the Christ United Methodist Church, Family Life Center, Jackson, Ohio on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. A Masonic service, Elks service and Jackson Firefighters service will follow at 8 p.m. on Saturday. Funeral service will be held at the Christ United Methodist Church Sunday, December 13, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Janie Karl and Rev. Dave Roach officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jackson, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve’s memory to the Christ United Methodist Church Homeless Shelter and/or the Jackson County Dog Pound. Or, donations may be made in Steven’s memory to the Living Well Faith Works, P. O. Box 267, Brunswick, Ga. 31521 and/or The Manna House of Brunswick, 1408 G Street, Brunswick, Ga. 31521.
