Judith Gail Beatty, age 62, of Athens formerly of Lorain, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014 at The Laurels of Athens. Born March 8, 1952 in Jackson, she is the daughter of Paul S. (Betty) Beatty of Jackson and the late Barbara D. Mullins Beatty.
Judith was a nurse for over 30 years, receiving her Bachelor of Nursing Degree from Lorain County Community College. She was a Labor and Delivery Nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital (Lorain), Allen Memorial Hospital (Oberlin), and St. John West Shore Hospital (Berea); and a Dialysis Nurse at Fresenius Medical Center (Amherst, Sheffield, Cleveland). She was a member of First Christian Church of Athens and formerly a member of Christian Temple and Washington Ave. Christian Church where she was an Elder, Deaconess and Sunday School Teacher.
An avid reader, she loved Elvis, The Beatles, needlework and hearing her daughter, Leah sing. She also supported her daughters in their many activities including Girl Scout as Troop Leader of 587 in Lorain. She will be missed by not only her immediate family, but the many lives she touched including fellow nurses, countless patients, and the staff of both The Laurels of Athens and Fresenius Medical Group.
Judith is survived by her two daughters, Rev. Deanna (Mike) Straw of Athens and Leah White of Provo, Utah; a granddaughter, Angela Straw; a sister, Tami Faye of Athens, Ga.; a brother, Kenneth D. (Sandie) Beatty of Flanders, N.J.; amazing nieces and nephews, Brittany and Sam Collazo, Rachel and Maggi Faye, Eric and Kathleen Beatty; great-nieces, Rachel Faye and Ashley Beatty; great-nephew, Ryan Beatty; a special aunt, Doris Yinger; and special cousins, Clara and Jessie.
Besides her mother, she is preceded in death by a brother, Barry Beatty; nieces, Abigail Jane and Tiffany Frye; and nephews, Grant and Calabe Frye.
Funeral service will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at Eisnaugle-Lewis Funeral Home, 28 Harding Ave., Jackson. Friends may call Monday at 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Buckeye Cemetery, Jackson. Memorial contributions may be made to The Laurels of Athens Activities Department, 70 Columbus Circle, Athens, Ohio 45701.
