Mary Elizabeth Eberts, age 88, of Hamden, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014, at the Huston Nursing Home in Hamden, Ohio. She was born May 9, 1925 in Ashland, Kentucky to the late George Washington Smith and Lula Scarberry Smith Anderson. Mary was a loving housewife and homemaker and was a member of the Puritan Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by five children, Sharon (David) Stacy of Mogadore, Oh., Edgar Eugene “Gene” (Leona) Eberts of Bidwell, Gary Eberts of Hamden, Debbie (Mike) Bentley of Hamden and Betty (James) Rogers of Wellston; sisters, Betty (Jack) Leffler of Mansfield and Sandy (John) Schrieber of Mesa, Arizona; brother, Stephen (Julie) Anderson of Mansfield, as well as seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Edgar E. “Sonny” Eberts in 1988; son, Larry N. Eberts; grandson, Jeffrey Henderson, and brothers, Billy Smith and Everett Anderson.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Jamie Fortner officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamden Cemetery.
