Ladora Dearing Lyons, age 54, of Wellston, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013, at the Holzer Medical Center ER in Jackson, Ohio, following a courageous battle with a long-term illness. She was born February 13, 1959 in Gallipolis, Ohio to Ronald W. Dearing and Mary Lou Denny Dearing.
Ladora was a 1977 graduate of Jackson High School and was a former employee of the Wellston Public Library. She was a member of the Hillside Chapel Church. In 1989, Ladora was named the Wellston Mothers’ Club “Mother of the Year.” Ladora had a heart of gold and brought joy to everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Dearing of Jackson; children, Amanda Lyons of Jackson, Laura Oboczky (Steve) of Marysville and Chris Lyons (Lynley) of Wellston; brother, Wayne Dearing (Kristy) of Marysville; sisters, Sharon McWilliams (Tom) of Wellston and Avonelle Sollars (Mike Coen) of Albany, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ladora was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Dearing and her grandparents, Ralph Dearing, Wilma Dearing, George Denny, Sr., Dora Denny Rainer and Raymond Rainer.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Harr, Rev. Jim Mullett and Diaconal Minister Janie Karl officiating.
