Gladys G. Blackstone, age 96, of Jackson, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013, at her home. She was born March 14, 1917 in Lawrence County, Ohio to the late Robert E. Gastin and Minnie Malone Gastin. Gladys was a retired cook from the Wellston City Schools where she was employed for over 15 years, and she was a member of the former Hamden Nazarene Church.
Gladys is survived by her children, Charles (Fran) Blackstone of Clearwater, Fla., Bob (Helen) Blackstone of Columbus, Eleanor (Charles) Bryan of San Diego, Calif., Frank Blackstone of Nashville, Tenn., Paul (Merly) Blackstone of Milton, Fla., Mary Ann Rice of Hamden and Becky Ervin of Jackson, as well as 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by two infant sons, Harold and Lewis; grandson, Mike Blackstone; daughter-in-law, Jacki Blackstone and two sons-in-law, Jim Rice and Dewey Ervin.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Coy officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Cemetery.
