Clarence Wayne Kight

Clarence Wayne Kight, age 77, of Coalton, Ohio, passed away Monday, August 26, 2013, at his home. He was born in Limerick, Ohio on March 16, 1936, son of the late Clarence Donald and Marcella Kight. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Emory Kight, Allen Kight, Ralph Kight, Richard Kight; and sisters: Rita Poe, Kay Keller, and an infant sibling.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Sue Kight; a daughter, Robin (Gene) Smith of Albany; sons, Anthony (Barb) Kight of Jackson and Chip (Pam) Kight of Palm Bay, Florida; and a daughter, Beth (Mark) Brady of High Springs, Florida; sisters and brothers: Irene, Maxine, Helen, Bob, Ronnie and Pat; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews.

Wayne was a member of the Coalton Freewill Baptist Church for 20 years, an Army Veteran, was a firefighter in Jackson from 1963 to 1964, a Jackson Police Officer from 1964 to 1987, rising through the ranks where he served as Police Chief for 11 years and retired in 1988. He also received an Associates Degree in Police Science at Hocking Technical College, and was a long-standing member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the National Rifle Association.

Friends may call at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home Thursday, Aug. 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Bob Fulton and Rev. Tim Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Coalton, Ohio.
