Paul Edward Buck of Jackson, Ohio passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the age of 93. He was born January 16, 1920, in Springfield, Ohio to Dawson Buck and Rosetta Franze.
Paul is survived by his wife of 70 years, Carol Auvin (Graham) Buck and three children; son, Paul Donivan (Carole) Buck of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughters, Jacque Yinger of Jackson and Lisa Joan (Gerald) Entler of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Shannon (Donald) Griffin, Paul D. Buck II, Alison (Andrew) Vaughan, Matthew (Amanda) Evans, Julie (Gene) Folden, Larry (Becca) Yinger, Heather Entler and Nickolas Buck; and eight great-grandchildren, Alana Moore, Reaghann Folden, Ryan Folden, Makenna Folden, Kenzie Evans, Collin Folden, Madeline Evans and Zoe Buck. Also surviving are brother, Carl Buck and sister, Mary Wells of Springfield.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frank Buck and sisters, Lucille Bartling and Dorothy Leonard.
Paul served in the U.S. Army with the 132nd Field Artillery Battalion at Pearl Harbor and was also deployed to Europe during the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from the City of Jackson after 26 years as the superintendent of the water department. Paul served on the Jackson City Council for 12 years, the Jackson County Board of Aging, the Metropolitan Housing Authority Board and the Jackson City Tourism Board. He was a loyal member of the Lions Club since 1982 and a member of the Christ United Methodist Church.
Paul was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Jackson Ironmen Football team and bowled for many years in league bowling.
On March 13, 1943, Paul married his sweetheart, Carol Auvin Graham. On their 70th Anniversary this year, the Mayor of Jackson declared that March 13th will be forever known as Paul and Carol Buck Day in Jackson, Ohio.
The family would like to thank all the caring staff and friends at the Four Winds Facility for their support during the past year, especially Sandy Borden.
Viewing hours will be Tuesday, May 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home in Jackson where funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 8, at 1 p.m.
