Cheryl Elizabeth Loxley (Cheri), 68, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away on May 29, 2013, after a brief hospitalization at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 1 at Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home, 135 Broadway Street, Jackson, Ohio, 45640. Calling hours will be on June 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow the funeral at Leamer Cemetery on Tom Corwin Road in Wellston, Ohio. Pastor Eric Walker, Dayton, Ohio, will lead the service. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home.
Cheryl was a life-long resident of Ohio, born in Greenville, on June 6, 1944. She graduated from Franklin Monroe High School in Darke County in 1962, and continued her studies at Sinclair College in Dayton.
Cheryl worked as an administrative assistant with the City of Dayton for 35 years. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was always quick to make people laugh. Cheryl enjoyed meeting new people and went to great lengths to help new acquaintances feel comfortable and welcomed in her presence. Over the last several years, she also proved to be a prolific and gifted poet who touched many hearts with her “Poems for Particular People.”
Cheryl is survived by Kathryn Loxley (mother) of Jackson, Ohio; Connie Wharton, Louisville, Kentucky and Carolyn Loxley, Circleville, Ohio (sisters); (widowed daughter-in-law) Marilyn Loxley, Jackson; Monty, Tim, Jennifer, Susan (deceased), Lance, Tod, Michelle, Jess, Luke, and Isaac (nieces and nephews); and other family and friends.
Cheryl is preceded in death by O.B. Loxley (father), Ted Loxley (brother), and Aaron Loxley (son).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The Cheryl Loxley Poetry Corner Memorial Fund at Four Winds Community, 215 Seth Avenue, Jackson, Ohio 45640.
