Walter Mason Hogue, age 92, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Four Winds Nursing Home in Jackson. He was born in Monroe County, Ohio, August 20, 1920 to the late Mason N. and Andora Alice (Cree) Hogue.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict; he retired from the Ohio Highway Patrol after 25 years; then worked at McCorkle Masonery, then at Kenworth Trucking in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was a member of DAV and Honor Guard, Trowel Lodge 132 F&M, Scottish Rite, Order of the Eastern Star and Alladin Shriners. He enjoyed the outdoors, bird hunting, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; sons, Paul (Donna) and Greg Hogue; daughters, Elaine (Charles) Milliken and Beth (Bart) Reiselt; grandchildren, Michelle Rice, Jason Hogue, Chuck Milliken, Alex Milliken, Audra Milliken, Mason Reiselt, McKenzie Reiselt, Madison Reiselt and Kate Davis; and great-grandchildren, Thomas Rice, Shannon Rice and Charlie Milliken.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James and Denzil and one son, Robert Walter Hogue.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, 225 Church Street, Jackson, Ohio 45640.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Downton officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Fairmount Cemetery.
