David Reeder DeLay, age 53, of Jackson, loving son, husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed early on the morning of October 24, 2012. He was the son of the late Thomas S. DeLay and survived by his mother Lee (Hawk) DeLay of Jackson.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Angel DeLay, and his children, Dillon (Karisa) DeLay, Dexter DeLay and Katie DeLay, all of Jackson. Also surviving are his granddaughters, Skyla, Zaiden, Airbella and Sophora; sisters, Jan (Mike) Hoyt and Susan DeLay; and nephews, Matt (Danielle) Hoyt, Josh (Kelsey) Hoyt and Adam Hoyt.
Dave was a man who walked to the sound of steel drums with his ears tuned to Bob Marley. He was loved by so many and will be missed by all. He was an avid fisherman who always threw back his catches, an avid crossword aficionado; he loved being outdoors and was able to do so as he worked 30 years for the telephone company (Ohio Bell, Ameritech, SBC and AT&T). David loved his wife of 31 years, his children, grandchildren and family and all that he met. Dave served in the United States Army from June 1977 to September 1979 and was stationed in Augsburg, Germany. He was proud to receive the Marksman Qualification Badge and Expert Qualification Badge with Greenade Bar. Dave loved to travel, go golfing and being in the company of friends. He enjoyed walking his dog Gizmo and watching the Cleveland Browns try to win every Sunday with his family.
Dave graduated from Jackson High School in 1977 and was a member of the York Rite Masonic Bodies in Jackson.
Dave will be remembered for his endearing patience. His loved ones will miss his laugh and see his smile in every sunset.
Dave made it known that he wanted to donate his organs in hopes of saving others.
A Masonic service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson. Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
