Michael Eric “Mike” Norton, 48, of Wellston, died Saturday, June 23 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va., due to complications from a motorcycle accident three weeks earlier.
Mike was born January 11, 1964 in Wellston, to parents, Clyde E. and Shirley R. Faught Norton. Mike was a 1982 graduate of Wellston High School.
Mike was a waste water treatment operator at General Mills, Wellston, where he was a proud family member, and employee for 30 years. Mike enjoyed riding his motorcycle and four wheelers, playing music, and being outdoors with his many friends.
He is survived by his parents, Clyde and Shirley Norton of Wellston, fiancé and longtime companion Shannon Riley Kisor of Wellston, brother Terry (Debbie Wilbur) Norton of Wellston, sisters, Sherry (Ron) Headley of Jackson and Wanda (Scott) MacClinchy of Vinton, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, friends, and several others who looked to him as “Dad.” Mike is also survived by his “special kids,” Ace, Apple Jack, Foxie, Milkbone, and Sissy. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry and Ruth Norton, and Adam and Ruth Faught, a sister-in-law Pam Norton, a nephew Jeremy Davis, and his best friend, Marlin Stover.
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home. Viewing hours will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until to 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Wellston, and a Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dick Moore officiating.
