Dale Rawlins, age 73, of Oak Hill, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, and joined his heavenly father on March 5th, 2012. He was born on September 25, 1938 to Chester and Mayme Rawlins in Monroe Hollow, Oak Hill, Ohio. Other than his parents, Dale is predeceased by sisters, Vera “Jackie” Wright and sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Jack Boganwright. Also receiving him in heaven are his father and mother-in-law, Bud and Mary Evans.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 48 years, Gail Evans Rawlins. Dale is also survived by his daughter, Mary, and son-in-law, Buddy Casey, and their daughters, Kasey and Mary Grace Arrowood. Also surviving is son, Jedd, and daughter-in-law, Tara Rawlins, and their two children, Christopher and Brianna. Dale is also survived by sister, Dorothy Queen of Oak Hill, as well as sisters-in-law, Linda Kay Grubb and Sharon Hasan, also of Oak Hill. He is also survived by many cherished nephews and nieces.
Dale graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1956 and completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Rio Grande College. He went on to further his education by receiving his Master’s Degree from Ohio University. He started his teaching career at Jefferson School House in 1961 and retired in 1997. After Dale retired he returned to education as a member of the Oak Hill Union Local School Board. After his family, Education was his passion. He cared so deeply about the youth of rural Southern Ohio.
Dale was also deeply involved in his church. He and Gail faithfully attended the Trinity Wesleyan Church in Oak Hill, Ohio. He was a dedicated member of the church and the choir. Dale greatly loved his church family and they have played a major role in his life for the past several years.
Dale deeply loved his community, from the schools, The Mighty Oaks, The Lady Oaks, his church, the people of this town, and his family.
Services will be held on Thursday, March 8th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Kuhner-Lewis Funeral Home in Oak Hill, Ohio with the funeral on March 9th at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Wesleyan Church in Oak Hill, Ohio. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Youth Association of the Trinity Wesleyan Church in Oak Hill, Ohio.
