Ruth M. Faught

Ruth M. Faught, age 80, of Wellston, Ohio, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, March 3, 2016, at the home of her daughter. She was born December 25, 1935 in Fostoria, Ohio, the daughter of the late Robert W. and Mildred L. Carman Ponn.

Ruth was a homemaker, a member of the Grace Baptist Church, and a former member of the Civilian Emergency Response Team. Ruth spent the majority of her life giving of her time to others through her volunteering with My Brother’s Place; the American Red Cross, with whom she was the local coordinator for the blood mobile; the Jackson County Humane Society; the Latch Key Program; preparing students for proficiency exams in the Jackson City School system; as well as numerous other local and county organizations.

Ruth is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Randy Hatten of Wellston; son, Randall Lee Faught of Jackson; grandchildren, Matt Hatten (Jennifer) of Wellston and Leann Kight (Chris) of Wellston; great-grandchildren, Maddox and Jocelyn Hatten, and soon-to-be baby boy Hatten, and Carter, Case and Scarlet Kight; sister, Debbie Wyant (Tollie) of Virginia; brother, Rick Ponn (Jane) of Tennessee, as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel H. Faught, Jr., and her sister, Shirley Tucker.

At Ruth’s request, her body was cremated. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at 6 p.m. at the Grace Baptist Church in Wellston with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
