Erma Florence Thomas, age 91, of Oak Hill, Ohio, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Holzer Hospital of Jackson. She was born on April 15, 1923, in Oak Hill to the late Ollie C. and Blanche (Baker) Smith.
Erma was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and also was a member of the Liberty Ladies. She enjoyed gospel and country music, animals, and gathering with friends at the Senior Citizen Center in Oak Hill. Erma’s great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Sophia were the joy of her later years.
In addition to her parents, Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Evan Dwight Thomas.
She is survived by sons, Donald L. Thomas, of Jackson, Ohio, Richard D. Thomas, of Marysville, Ohio, and Lowell R. Thomas, of Point Pleasant, West Virginia; grandchildren, Angie (Donald) Criner, Kyra (Brian) Gaines, Daren Thomas, David (Monica) Thomas, Matthew (Mari) Thomas, Holly (Bryan) Wilson, Polly (Kevin) Green, and Bruce (Lisa) Spurlock; 47 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends and relatives at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home, of Oak Hill, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015 with the funeral at 1 p.m. with Rev. Elza Green officiating. Burial will follow at C.M. Cemetery.
