Violet I. Williams

Violet I. Williams, 87, of Wellston, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. She was born on April 22, 1928, daughter of the late Reverend Garfield and Hattie Stapleton.

Violet was a hardworking single mother of seven, who at one time worked at Austin Powder in Zaleski and the pants factory in Wellston. A Baptist by faith, she enjoyed cooking, baking, working outside in her flower gardens, but most of all spending time with her family.

She is survived by her loving family: son, Rick (Brenda) Ousley; five daughters, Judy Havens, Sue Kisner, Patty Howard, Deborah (Keith) Vickers, and Brenda Leone; 17 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; brother, William Stapleton; special friends, Jackie Hamilton and Millie Conley; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Keith Ousley; grandson, Brent Jarvis; as well as three brothers, Charles, Harold, and Junior Stapleton.

A funeral service celebrating Violet’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W. Broadway St., with Pastors Keith Fulton and Rob Ervin officiating. Burial will follow in Hamden Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m.
