Esther Louise Rice, age 82, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Four Winds of Jackson, Ohio. She was born on February 17, 1932 in Jackson, Ohio to the late Oscar and Ida (Bauer) Grover.
Esther was a 1948 graduate of Jackson High School. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, a member of the Junior Altrurian League, and the Red Hat Club. She was also a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she served as a member of the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Rice; her children, Kathy (Rice) Patrick, Peggy (Larry) Foster, and Karen (Mark) McCann; grandchildren, Ryan (Ashly) Foster, Jamie (Cheyenne) Boggs, Lindsey Eilbacher, Caitlin Eilbacher, and Cody Eilbacher; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Maclees, Alexis Boggs, Zane Boggs, Weston Foster, and Quincy Foster; sisters, Betty Vance and Lorita (Ernie) Rader; sister-in-law, Carol (Dick) Sharrock; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, are her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dick and Elizabeth Rice; sisters, Glenna Exline, Ida Mae Adamson, Barbara (Pat) Scott, and Mary Grover; and her brother, Oscar Grover Jr.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Dave Roach officiating at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson, Ohio. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
