Nicky L. “Nick” Huff, age 70, of Wellston, passed away Friday, September 25, 2015, at the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born October 16, 1944 in Chillicothe, Ohio, the son of the late Raymond Huff and Carolyn Downs Whalen.
Nick was a 1962 graduate of Wellston High School and was a veteran of the Ohio Army National Guard, with whom he served for six years. He was a former bridge designer specialist with O.D.O.T., from where he retired after 33 years of service, and was a member of the RC/ACE Flying Club.
Nick is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rita Wiseman Huff; children, Erica Mercer (Paul) of Wellston and Shawn Huff (Jill) of Pataskala; grandchildren, Evan Mercer (Madi), Brady Mercer, Connor Mercer, Skylar Huff, Sophia Huff and Shawn Huff; brother, William Whalen of Wellston; sisters, Peggy Vickers (Joe) of Wellston and Sarah Weller of Wellston; father-in-law, Raymond Wiseman of Wellston; mother-in-law, Erma Sandy of Wellston, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father who raised him, Oran Whalen.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Rob Ervin officiating.
