Nelson E. Sharp

Nelson Edward Sharp age 76 of Oak Hill formerly of Jackson passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 at the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson. He was born July 17, 1939 in Jackson, Ohio to the late Erman Sr and Mamie Roberts Sharp.

He was a life member of the Nazarene Church where he was an associate Pastor a long time Sunday School Superintendent. He served as a Chaplin for several of the area nursing homes and the Holzer Medical Center. He lived for his ministries, music and loved fishing. He was an Army Veteran and was instrumental in organizing the veterans breakfast at the Nazarene Church.

He is survived by his wife: Frances Simpson Sharp; children: Kimberly (Duane) Seitz, Beverly (Barry) Tanner, Doug (Stephanie) Sharp, Jerry (Lisa) Logan and Trina Logan; sisters: Minnie Perkins, Pauline Mayse, Jackie Wyatt, Lillian Crabtree and Wanda (Billy) Robinson; 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews and extended church family. He was preceded in death by his parents, son: James Logan, brothers: Erman Sharp Jr, Bobby Sharp and infant brother Arthur Sharp; brother-in-laws: Charles Perkins, Brownie Mayse, Carl Wyatt and Glen Crabtree.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Percell officiating and burial to follow in the Fairmount Cemetery, with military graveside services by Jackson County Chapter 45 of the D.A.V. Family will receive friends from 2-8PM Friday, October 2, 2015 at the funeral home.
