James L. Sorrell

James L. Sorrell, age 72, of Wellston, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at his home. He was born September 1, 1940 in Vinton County, Ohio to James William Sorrell and Helen Brewer Sorrell. Jim was a 1958 graduate of Wilkesville High School and was a former employee of McNally Pittsburg Manufacturing in Wellston for several years.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Hazel W. Davis Sorrell; four children, James William “Bill” Sorrell of McConnelsville, Julie Covault of McConnelsville, Jeri Smith of Piqua and John (Tammy) Sorrell of Piqua; three step-children, Linda (Mike) Sharp of McArthur, Gene (Pat) Brewer of Wellston and Becky (James) Jamison of Zaleski; sister, Susan (Bob) Canter of Wellston; half sister, Brenda (Bill) Patrick of Waterloo, as well as seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

At Jim’s request, his body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial in the Ridgewood Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
