William Earl Burton, Sr.

William Earl Burton, Sr. (Bill) passed away July 11, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital, Bartlett, TN. He was formerly of Jackson, OH. He was born May 10, 1940 in Jackson County, OH to Ray and Opal Burton, who preceded him in death. Also, preceding him in death was his sister Edna Miller of Jackson, OH.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen Gilliland Burton, and four children, Marcia Burton Watson and Tina Burton Donahoo of Memphis, TN, William Burton, Jr. (Sandra) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Tami Burton Hinman of Kingsland, GA. Bill also leaves one sister, Linda Rae Kubilus, of Hillsboro, OH. He leaves grandchildren, Brannan, Cameron, and Dylan Watson, of Memphis, TN, Nicole and Derek Burton, Colorado Springs, CO, Shawn and Meghan Donahoo, Clarksville, TN, and Ryan Brown, Alexandria and Regan Hinman, Kingsland, GA. He leaves great-grandchildren, Charles Allen and Randell William Donahoo of Clarksville, TN. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Bill was in the United States Army, where he did two tours in Vietnam and received several medals including the Bronze Star, Air Medal with Valor Device, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/5 Campaign Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Master Aircraft Crewman Badge, National Defense Service Medal, 4 Overseas Service Bars, and Good Conduct Medal 6th Award. He was a member of the Jackson Masonic Lodge and a lifetime member of AMVETS.

Bill retired from the Piketon Atomic Plant in 2005. He loved God and his family.

Cremation will be in Memphis, TN with a memorial service in Ohio at the convenience of the family.
