Robert Dale Massie, age 58, of Hamden, passed away Saturday morning, May 11, 2013, at the Edgewood Manor Nursing Facility in Wellston. He was born September 5, 1954 in McArthur, Ohio to the late Glendon R. Massie and Ida M. Humphrey Massie. Robert was a 1972 graduate of Vinton County High School and was retired from ODOT.
He is survived by son, Jeffrey Carl Massie (Crystal) of Hamden; daughter, Stephanie Rae Massie of Hamden; spouse, Carol Gibbs Massie of Hamden; grandchildren, Jeffrey Levi Massie, James Robert Korbyn Massie, Skylar Gage Walton, Hannah Brooke Avonell Eby, Peyton Grace Eby, Dakota Ryan Vance and Dylan Tyler Vance; sisters and brothers, Sue Harmon of Columbus, Glenna Piertrowski of Indiana, Carolyn Canterberry of Wellston, Mac Massie of Hamden, Wayne Massie of Hamden, Thomas Massie of Hamden, Joyce Byler of Jackson, Jack Massie of Hamden and Lewis Kent Massie of Shadyside; special friend, Adam Wolford and family of Vinton County; aunt, Dolores Wiseman of Hamden, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dennis Massie and Jeffrey Massie. In keeping with Robert’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Graveside services were set for Sunday, May 12 at 3 p.m. at the Hamden Cemetery with Rev. Danny Minton officiating.
